1) How did you get involved in filmmaking and why?

It started out in high school when I wanted to make my own version of Scream. This translated into majoring in Film Studies at UC Irvine and making a few horror shorts. I won an award for Best Horror Film at one of our campus film festivals along with a lot of praise for my other shorts. Then I became a Christian in my senior year of college in 2004, and my subject matter obviously changed.

2) What project(s) are you particularly excited about (current or past) and why?

I’m particularly excited about last year’s short narrative thesis film, Beautiful. I am currently interested in exposing darkness and bringing it into the light and difficult subject matter is something that I feel like can show greater redemption in the end.

3) How does your faith influence your filmmaking?

Film is such an evangelistic tool for me and something I feel called to for the rest of my life. Knowing it has potential to reach billions of people, I want to effectively and powerfully showcase the Gospel in creative and bold ways, whether it be through difficult subject matter or testimonies from my own life. God has created me to be uniquely me and I am finally  confident in who He has made me to be with the particular skill sets I have, for the world and for the glory of God.
