070 RS Podcast Rudderless Writers Jeff Robison and Casey Twenter

We publish a lot of reviews here at Reel Spirituality. We don’t write them for the filmmakers in hopes that they’ll read them and make different movies or make movies differently next time. We write them for film viewers in hopes that viewers will be better prepared to process what they see. In fact, we don’t imagine the people behind the movies we review ever even read our reviews much less heed them.

In at least one case, we were mistaken. At the end of October, we published Gary Ingle’s review of Rudderless. Then, we were notified by Twitter that the film’s writers, Jeff Robison and Casey Twenter, were talking about Gary’s review. They were grateful for it, as they felt that Gary perfectly understood what they were trying to do with the story. Those Twitter mentions became a conversation, that conversation became an interview, and that interview has become a podcast.

On this episode of the Reel Spirituality Podcast, Gary Ingle interviews Jeff Robison and Casey Twenter about their film, Rudderless. In addition to talking about the film, the trio talks in depth about Gary’s review and how rare it has been for a religious publication especially to treat the film with respect.
