Winston Gooden is Dean Emeritus and Evelyn and Frank Freed Professor Emeritus of Psychotherapy and Spirituality, having served on Fuller’s faculty since 1984 and as dean of the School of Psychology from 2000 to 2014.

Gooden has researched the developmental crises and transitions of early and middle adulthood, with his work in this area published in a number of book chapters and journals. His most recent research examines the relationship between shame, intimacy, and attachment among married couples of various ethnic backgrounds. He has also written articles and taught seminars on adult attachment and the place of faith in leadership.
