Almost as long as people have been making movies, they’ve been making movies about Jesus. Some of them are good films; some of them are not. All of them are interesting. In this new podcast series, we’re watching a handfull of Jesus movies and considering what makes a good Jesus movie good and a not-so-good Jesus movie not-so-good.
In this second episode, we’re looking at two of the most famous Jesus films of all time – DeMille’s King of Kings and Pasolini’s Gospel According to St. Matthew. In the next two epsiodes, we’ll look at Gibson’s Passion of the Christ and the Pythons’ Life of Brian. In the future, we hope to augment this series by watching non-Western Jesus movies.
