043 RS Podcast Schrader, Sex, and Scorsese

Last time Matthew Aughtry joined us on the RS Podcast, we talked about the Scorsese directed and Paul Schrader scripted The Last Temptation of Christ. This time, we’re trying to look at Paul Schrader’s work on its own merit.

Paul Schrader is a former seminary student and an outspoken critic of reformed Christianity. His films frequently deal explicitly with theological matters and utilize very explicit cinematic material to do so. What are Schrader’s key questions and hang-ups? Why is he so apparently hostile to the Christiaity he once knew? Listen in and find out.
