President

Mark Labberton, PhD [MDiv ’80], was named fifth president of Fuller Seminary in 2013, after serving the previous four years as professor and director of the Lloyd John Ogilvie Institute of Preaching. He came to Fuller after serving in pastoral roles for three decades, most recently as senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, California.

Dr. Labberton has authored The Dangerous Act of Loving Your Neighbor: Seeing Others Through the Eyes of Jesus; The Dangerous Act of Worship: Living God’s Call to Justice; and, most recently, Called: The Crisis and Promise of Following Jesus Today, in which he articulates a broad vision of leadership that shapes his vision for the future work of Fuller Seminary.

“If God is God, and if God has spoken in Jesus Christ for the salvation of the world, then none of this personal or global reality lies beyond God’s arms. And if none of this lies beyond God’s arms, then God’s people are meant to make that embrace visible and tangible. And if that is the calling of God’s people, then educating Christ’s people for such ministry in the world is Fuller’s call.”
